What is Surf City?

Why should I go?

…because it’s a week long, life-changing PARTY!!!!

Surf City is 300 middle school students partying at a beach for 6 days!  IMAGINE…no school and no chores!!!  Instead there will be Wave Runners, Tubing behind a SPEED BOAT, Horseback Riding, 7 Story Tall Sand Dunes to jump off…Dances, HILARIOUS Entertainment, an Awesome Band, Swimming, GREAT Adventure, Sand Volleyball, A Really Big Lake, Late Nights, Basking in the SUN, Bonfire…Friendships and even a few surprises!

Most importantly, examining your faith in God in a way that is
REAL and COOL!! 

But, If I Stay Home, I Could…

…do the same thing you did last summer

Play the same games with the same friends, watch TV until you get dizzy, count down the days until your freedom is over and school starts again, annoy your parents and get into trouble again!  Let’s face it, by the end of July, you will be pretty bored and ready for something new, fun and totally worth your time!

Where is Surf City?

It’s in Silver Lake, Michigan on the shores of Lake Michigan!!!!

The beaches are full of beautiful white sand and the water is calling your name!

Surf City is moving!
PYN has some exciting news in 2008!  Surf City is moving!  We know that it may seem sudden and come as quite a shock.  But, because of changes at Camp Miniwanca that are beyond our control, we're moving to a new facility! 
  

Where are we going?
Only 15 minutes up the road from Camp Miniwanca is Surf City's new home, Grace Adventures Camp.  The most exciting part is that the new facility is a serious upgrade from the old facility.  
We'll be enjoying the same lake and sand, basking in the same sun  and enjoying the same water activities that we've enjoyed for 22 years, like riding wave runners, tubing and canoes.  But, in addition to that, we'll get to experience a whole new adventure because of some great new activities including: horseback riding, the blob, a zip line, and a climbing wall. 
As always, we will continue to have three fun-filled, life-changing weeks.  God is so faithful!  As soon as one door closes, another one opens with even greater opportunities than we could ever imagine!  We are so grateful that He continues to bless our efforts to tell more and more kids about His unchanging love and what it means to have a relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ!

We look forward to making new memories!  We're in this adventure together!

Everything a Parent Needs to Know

  • Surf City is a Christian outreach summer camp located in Silver Lake, MI aimed at middle school age kids.
  • Surf City is celebrating its 23nd year of operation this summer.
  • Surf City falls under the Supervision of the Pittsburgh Leadership Foundation and is a project of the Pittsburgh Youth Network.
  • Surf City is accredited each year by the Michigan Department of Camp Safety. We safeguard the health and safety of each participant.   Surf City meets or exceeds state health and safety requirements. American Red Cross standards guide waterfront activities.  Surf City maintains a fully equipped health center with on-site Camp Nurse.
  • Surf City is staffed by youth ministers and volunteers drawn from the Pittsburgh Youth Network as well as participating Churches.
  • Churches who attend Surf City are responsible for bringing a leadership team.  Surf City recommends a leader to camper ratio of 1:5.
  • Campers come from all across the country with the majority coming from Pittsburgh.  To be a camper at Surf City, you must come with a participating church.

How much and how do we register?
The cost for Surf City is $435.  A non-refundable deposit of $75 is due to the New Community Church office by June 27.  Registration forms are available on this web site as well as from the Church Office.  Please contact Cindy Davis at 724-935-0909 Ext. 14 for more information.
